FAQs

What do we wear?

Natural tones always work best—think soft browns, warm creams, gentle greens, and muted blues. If it looks like a colour you’d find outdoors, it’s probably a good choice! Try to stay away from really bold colours or busy prints, as they can take attention away from the beautiful scenery—and you!

A simple outfit that never fails? A light, textured shirt with denim—easy and classic. Floaty dresses in white or neutral tones are another favourite, especially if you love a dreamy, romantic vibe. Take a peek below for some outfit ideas if you’re unsure.

If the weather’s chilly, don’t stress! Bring layers to keep warm—we can always pause for a quick jacket break between shots. And if you’re wearing something cosy the whole time, wool is a beautiful option. It photographs so well and feels right at home here in New Zealand. Earthy wool coats, chunky knits, or scarves not only keep you warm but also look amazing in photos.

What time of the day do you prefer to shoot?

I typically like to start sessions about an hour before sunset—that’s when the light is soft, golden, and super flattering! The exact time can shift depending on the season, so here’s a rough guide to help you plan:

  • Summer (Dec–Feb) – Sunset is late, around 8:30–9:00 PM, so we’d usually start between 5:00–7:00 PM.

  • Autumn (Mar–May) – The light starts to fade earlier, so sessions often begin around 3:00–6:30 PM.

  • Winter (Jun–Aug) – With sunset around 5:00 PM, we’d likely start closer to 2:00–4:30 PM.

  • Spring (Sep–Nov) – Light starts to stretch out again, so sessions begin around 4:00–7:30 PM.

If you’re an early bird, sunrise shoots are also an option! They’re peaceful and have that same soft, dreamy light.

Of course, I’m always happy to chat about timing to suit your schedule and the vibe you're going for—we’ll find the best light together.

How do you approach photographing people and moments?

I like to keep things relaxed and natural—so I won’t start by giving you a bunch of stiff poses. Instead, I let you settle in, be yourself, and just enjoy the moment. I’ll gently guide you when it feels right or when the moment needs a little nudge, but I try not to over-direct. My goal is to capture genuine connection and emotion, so it feels more like a fun experience than a formal photoshoot.

What camera do you use?

I have two mirrorless camera bodies which are supposed to be for different purposes. My Canon R8 is usually for travel and adventure style of photography. My other camera is a Sony A7 IV which is intended for professional photos. However, I use them alternatively for anything depending on the vibe for the day.

Is this your full-time gig?

At the moment, I still work full-time as a nurse, so my availability depends on my primary work schedule. The good news is that if you reach out at least 4 weeks in advance, we can usually find a time that works! I’ll do my best to accommodate your preferred dates.

Do you do wedding photography?

I’d be happy to be a second-shooter for big weddings. However, I’m very happy to be the main photographer for small intimate weddings!

Do you sell your photos?

Watch this space! It will be an honour to see my work up on your wall!

Any plans on running workshops/sell digital products for those wanting to learn photography?

I would love to run something like that in the future, but that will remain on hold for now

Do you do any type of photography?

Happy to do couples. surprise proposals and families. Email me and let’s organise something together.

Do you shoot in RAW?

All the way! However, I do not provide RAW to clients.
